WILMINGTON, NC Mar. 6, 2014 – I am glad the Hammerheads re-signed Cody Arnoux for the third straight year. I knew he was highly regarded, but he has a reputation as injured prone. Let’s hope this is the year he remains healthy because I would like to see him at his best in 2014. I saw glimpses or flashes, even though a nagging hamstring injury limited his participation in 2013. He still finished with four goals and one assist. Wilmington, NC Mar. 4, 2014 – Wilmington Hammerheads FC and Head Coach David Irving have invited four combine participants to enter preseason in Wilmington as trialists leading up to the 2014 USL PRO regular season. Steven Miller, Emmanuel Gómez and Michael Collis attended the New Jersey combine at Capelli Sport Center, while Vasilios Dimopoulos was invited for his performance during the first Wilmington combine in February. Wilmington, NC – Wilmington Hammerheads FC announced today they have signed forward/midfielder Tsotleho “Sunny” Jane for the upcoming 2014 USL PRO regular season. As of noon Thursday, Codington Elementary School will open and become the primary emergency shelter location for New Hanover County residents. Codington Elementary School is located at 4321 Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC 28412. The relocation of this shelter is being coordinated with New Hanover County Schools to reduce the impact to their operations. Urgent need for blood donors with types O, A negative and B negative & platelet donors WILMINGTON, NC January 31, 2014 — As severe winter weather begins to subside, the American Red Cross is asking all eligible blood and platelet donors to help offset a weather-related shortfall in donations. Since the beginning of January, winter storms and freezing temperatures have resulted in more than 600 Red Cross blood drive cancellations and nearly 20,000 uncollected blood and platelet donations. WILMINGTON, NC January 28, 2014 – Given the current forecast and dangerous conditions currently affecting New Hanover County, all administrative offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 29. This closure includes all county parks, Airlie Gardens, and Cape Fear Museum. Additionally, New Hanover and Pender County courts will also be closed on Wednesday. Currently, the 911 Center is receiving multiple reports from public safety officials that roadways throughout the county are becoming extremely icy and dangerous to traverse. Citizens are asked to heed all warnings and stay in place until travel conditions improve – which could be Thursday. Power outages should be reported to Duke Energy Progress at (800) 419-6356.
