ORLANDO, FL April 12, 2014 – The Charleston Battery (0-1-2) lost to Orlando City SC (2-0-2) by a score of one goal to none on Saturday night at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Stadium.  Substitute forward Brian Spann scored the lone goal slotting home from close range in the 74th minute. The loss was the Battery’s first of the USL PRO season. CHARLESTON, SC March 29, 2014 – The Charleston Battery secured a 2-2 draw with the Richmond Kickers on Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, S.C. in front of 3,254. CHARLESTON, SC March 22, 2014 – The Charleston Battery opened its season Saturday night at Blackbaud Stadium with a 1-1 draw against the Orlando City Lions in front of 3,773.  The Battery took the lead in the 65th minute through Mamdou Diouf but Orlando’s Austin daLuz leveled ten minutes later to salvage a draw for the 2013 champs. Neither team was able to pull ahead in the first half despite chances for both teams. Charleston Battery defeats Georgia Southern University in final pre-season scrimmage

CHARLESTON, SC March 18, 2014 – The Charleston Battery defeated Georgia Southern University by a score of seven goals to nil in its final pre-season scrimmage on Tuesday afternoon at Blackbaud Stadium.  Mamadou Diouf registered a second-half hat-trick to lead the Battery to a comfortable victory. Charleston pressed from the opening whistle and scored four unanswered goals in the first-half with Zach Prince, Heviel Cordoves, Jarad van Schaik and Adam Mena all converting chances. Charleston, SC March 15, 2014 – The Charleston Battery defeated Clemson University by a score of two goals to nil on Saturday afternoon at Blackbaud Stadium in a pre-season scrimmage.  Zach Prince and Adam Mena supplied the goals to lead the Battery to victory. Charleston opened the scoring in the 10th minute after striker Heviel Cordoves broke forward down the left side.  Cordoves whipped a cross into the middle and Zack Prince snapped his header past the Clemson goalkeeper. The Battery doubled its lead in the 35th minute from a corner-kick.  Prince curled the ball into the near-post and Adam Mena pulled off his defender and sent a glancing header home. Charleston Battery defeats Wilmington Hammerheads in preseason scrimmage

Charleston, SC Mar. 11, 2014  The Charleston Battery defeated the Wilmington Hammerheads by a score of one goal to nil Tuesday afternoon in a pre-season scrimmage.  Forward Mamadou Diouf scored the lone goal, heading home the winner in the 90th minute. Diouf’s goal came after some good build-up play down the left side. Midfielder Andre Lewis whipped a cross into the near-post and Diouf angled his header into the far corner of the goal. Next up for the Battery is a game versus the College of Charleston on Thursday afternoon at Patriots Point; kick off is set for 2:30 PM. Charleston Battery to offer series of summer youth soccer programs

Charleston, SC Mar. 10, 2014  The Charleston Battery will offer a series of youth soccer programs this summer presented by Lloyds Soccer Sports.  In addition to four weeks of half-day camp at Governors Park, Daniel Island the Battery will host three weeks of full-day camp at the Blackbaud Stadium soccer complex.  The Battery will also be offering a weekly Junior Academy program for elite players and a weekly Tiny Tots program for younger children age 3 – 6. Under the overall direction of Charleston Battery head coach Mike Anhaeuser; summer Camp and Academy coaches include current and former Charleston Battery players; all camps have a staff to camper ratio of 1:12.
