Three relay teams earned first-place finishes over the weekend Results CHAPEL HILL, NC March 22, 2014 – The East Carolina track and field program got the outdoor season off to a solid start as the Pirates tallied 10 first-place finishes at the Carolina Relays. “For the first meet of the outdoor season things went pretty well,” Head coach Curt Kraft said. “Both teams have to understand that when you go from the indoor season to the outdoor season there is transition involved. Clemson Tigers Earn Seven Wins Saturday at 49er Classic in Charlotte

Complete Results CLEMSON, SC March 22, 2014 – Behind the strength of seven winning performances, Clemson track & field concluded its action at the 49er Classic at Charlotte’s Irwin Belk Track on Saturday. In addition, the Tigers established five top-10 marks in the school’s record books on the final day of the opening outdoor meet. Marlena Wesh and Nia Fluker both earned victories as individuals and with the 4×400 relay Saturday. Fluker posted a time of 54.74 to win the 400, while Wesh ran 24.01 in the 200 final. CLEMSON, SC March 21, 2014 – Marlena Wesh made a successful 2014 debut Friday for Clemson track & field by posting the fastest time in the women’s 200-meter prelims to highlight the opening day of action for the Tigers at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, N.C. Wesh sat out the indoor season due to expired eligibility, but the four-time first-team All-American is back for a final outdoor campaign. Whitney Fountain qualified for finals in both the 100 and 200. The Bronx, N.Y., native posted a time of 11.94 in the former and 24.59 in the latter event. UNCW’s men’s 4×800 Relays claimed first at the Shamrock Invite for the fourth time in five seasons on Friday. MYRTLE BEACH, SC March 21, 2014 – UNCW 4×800 men’s relay posted its fourth win in five seasons at the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina on Friday at Doug Shaw Stadium. The relay of Connor Brooks, Tommy Schotzinger, Bryan Brackney and Dylan Skinner combined to win the race with a time of 7:43.29. Land tied for fifth in the women’s high jump, while Hester collected his second straight seventh-place finish in the men’s 60 meters. UNCW combined to win eight events in sweeping its own Seahawk Invitational on Saturday WILMINGTON, NC March 15, 2014 – UNCW combined to win eight events between the men and women as the Seahawks swept both meets of the UNCW Seahawk Invitational on Saturday at the Greene Track & Field Complex The Seahawk men totaled 201.5 points while the women accumulated 179 points in the win. MOUNT PLEASANT, SC Mar. 7, 2014 – In its second outdoor meet of the season, UNCW’s men’s and women’s programs combined to win seven events and post a pair of top-10 marks on Friday at the Palmetto Classic. Breaking into the women’s all-time top-10 in the High Jump were Margaret Edwards and Emily Kimble, who both tied for the win after posting best marks of 5-5, tying them for 10th all-time. Meet Schedule WILMINGTON, NC Mar. 1, 2014 – With the indoor season in the rearview mirror, UNCW opens its outdoor season on Sunday when it competes in the ninth-annual Battle of the Beaches against rival Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C. The Seahawks will also compete against South Carolina State in a separately scored meet. Senior Aerial Chatman will open his final season with the Seahawks by competing in the Long and Triple Jumps. Chatman competed in the NCAA first round last spring in the Triple Jump and won the Colonial Athletic Association title in the event.
