DARLINGTON, S.C. – Darlington Raceway has announced that the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series will return to the track Too Tough to Tame on Mother’s Day weekend, May 10-11, 2013. Charlotte, NC -After the first practice session, held Tuesday evening, for the second-annual Better Half Dash, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins Pastrana, wife of NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Travis Pastrana, posted the fastest lap with a time of 20.49 seconds. Lyn-z, a professional skateboarder and eight-time X Games medalist, proved her extreme sports background has prepared her for the driver’s seat. Columbia, SC – The University of South Carolina football squad worked out at the Bluff Road practice fields on Wednesday afternoon. The sixth-ranked Gamecocks (4-0, 2-0 SEC) are preparing for Saturday’s SEC Eastern Division matchup with Kentucky (1-3, 0-1 SEC). Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington with ESPN2 airing the contest nationally. Beverly Smith’s group spends the first of their two fall weekends in the Queen City COLUMBIA, S.C. Sept. 26, 2012- South Carolina gets its first fall competition on the softball diamond this weekend in an event at Charlotte. The Gamecocks take on the host 49ers to start and end the event while also facing Greensboro College and Elon. With a 20-person roster that includes nine newcomers, Gamecock head coach Beverly Smith gets her first chance to see these players in action. Of the newcomers, three are transfers, including juniors Brooke Barnhill (Spartanburg Methodist) and Ashlyn Masters (NW Florida St.) and sophomore Lakyn Shull (Furman).
