Bobcats Team Will Pack Care Kits from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25 CHARLOTTE, NC March 21, 2014 – The Charlotte Bobcats, Family Dollar and Wells Fargo today announced that the three organizations will partner together for the Military Care Event on March 25 at Time Warner Cable Arena. This is a unique community initiative in which members of each organization will prepare, package and donate over 10,000 care kits to military troops overseas. CELEBRATING WWII VETERANS MYRTLE BEACH, SC December 26, 2013 – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are planning to honor local World War II veterans during the 2014 season with a project called Grand Strand Heroes. Though the project is still in its infancy, plans include the creation of videos highlighting the stories of the Grand Strand veterans who served in WWII. The project will culminate at Pelicans Ballpark on Friday, June 6, the 70th Anniversary of D-Day. The team will recognize of all the local WWII veterans and feature the videos throughout the game. College of Charleston Graduate Laura Conn Works to Rescue Shelter Dogs, Rehabilitate Prisoners and Revitalize Veterans at Canines for Service   CHARLESTON, SC April 9, 2013 – On April 11, 2013 College of Charleston psychology graduate Laura Conn returns to campus – with a canine student. She won’t be taking notes, but will share how a course at the College inspired her to work with prisoners through the non-profit Canines For Service. Accompanying her will be a prisoner-trained service dog, which performs essential daily assistance tasks for veterans wounded in service.
