Charleston Battery recieves five players on loan from Vancouver Whitecaps

Charleston, SC Mar. 7, 2014 – As part of the official affiliate partnership, Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that the club has loaned five players to the Charleston Battery. Striker Mamadou Diouf and midfielders Aminu Abdallah and Andre Lewis will join the Battery from Whitecaps FC’s Major League Soccer roster, in addition to U-23 striker Marlon Ramirez and U-18 defender Jackson Farmer. KNOXVILLE, TN Mar. 7, 2014 – The College of Charleston softball team is set to test its seven-game winning streak with four games in the Tennessee Tournament hosted by No. 3 Tennessee March 8-9. CHARLESTON, SC Mar. 7, 2014 – The College of Charleston sailing team will be spread across a wide variety of regattas over the weekend of March 8-9 as the team will be represented at five different regattas in five different states. The Cougars will compete in the St. Mary’s Team Race with skippers Jake Reynolds, Ryan Davidson, and Nick Johnstone leading crew members Ali Blumenthal, Emmy Stuart, and Septima McAdams. Chase Shaw and Becca Schiff will serve as alternates at the intersectional regatta. MOUNT PLEASANT, SC Mar. 7, 2014 – In its second outdoor meet of the season, UNCW’s men’s and women’s programs combined to win seven events and post a pair of top-10 marks on Friday at the Palmetto Classic. Breaking into the women’s all-time top-10 in the High Jump were Margaret Edwards and Emily Kimble, who both tied for the win after posting best marks of 5-5, tying them for 10th all-time. In the 110 meter hurdles, sophomore Hezekiah Ward top the field with a time of 15.25 seconds. Senior Anthony Colon finished third with a time of 15.51. Charleston Battery transfers Mike Azira to Seattle Sounders FC

Charleston, SC Mar. 6, 2014 – The Charleston Battery has transferred midfielder Micheal Azira to Major League Soccer’s Seattle Sounders FC.  Azira spent the past two seasons with the Battery and enjoyed a stellar 2013 campaign that saw him score six goals with two assists in 31 games played. Azira’s lone previous goal for Charleston was a crucial one as he scored the game-winner in the Battery’s 1-0 2012 USL PRO championship win versus the Wilmington Hammerheads. No. 71 CofC Men’s Tennis Concludes California Road Swing With 6-1 Win Over LMU

LOS ANGELES, CA Mar. 6, 2014 –  The College of Charleston men’s tennis team rounded out their two-match west coast road swing on Wednesday with another comprehensive team performance, defeating the Lions of Loyola Marymount University, 6-1, at the LMU Tennis Complex. The College (6-3) jumped out to an early lead on the Lions after claiming the doubles point through wins on courts two and three by the Cougar pairings of Alon Faiman/Zack Lewis as well as the Chilean duo of Crescente Lesser and Rodrigo Encinas, who dispatched of their opponents, 8-2 and 8-5, respectively.
