CHARLESTON, SC Mar. 15, 2014 – College of Charleston women’s basketball head coach Natasha Adair has announced the dates for her third annual basketball camps, to be held at TD Arena over the course of eight days in mid-to-late June. The Day Camp, where campers will learn to dribble, pass, shoot, defend and be a part of a team will be held June, 16-19 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Day camp is all available to all interested parties currently in grades 3-12. PLEASANT, SC Mar. 13, 2014 – College of Charleston enters this weekend’s CofC Tournament on a three-game winning streak after defeating Jacksonville on Tuesday and winning the series against The Citadel over the weekend. The Cougars (13-3) will host Kent State (7-6), Michigan (6-10-1) and Appalachian State (4-13) in the three-day tournament at Patriots Point. ESTERO, FL Mar. 13, 2014 – The College of Charleston women’s basketball team will join the defending national champion Connecticut Huskies in Southwest Florida next November at Germain Arena for the 2014 edition of the prestigious Gulf Coast Showcase. The 2014 women’s event, scheduled for Nov. 28-30, 2014, will be comprised of The College and UCONN, as well as perennial BCS powers Villanova, Arizona State and Minnesota. Rounding out the bracket is Horizon League member-institution Green Bay and two teams to be named at a later date with one slot being held for an Atlantic Sun Conference team. Not just the lives of the participants – children with disabilities – but also the lives of the college students implementing the program. “My buddy has taught me a great deal about myself and the type of person I wish to become in the future,” explains Victoria Simpson, exercise science major. “This showed me that special education is where I am meant to be and it’s something that I love pursuing,” says Mariel Saldutte, the peer facilitator for the program. Charleston Battery defeats Wilmington Hammerheads in preseason scrimmage

Charleston, SC Mar. 11, 2014  The Charleston Battery defeated the Wilmington Hammerheads by a score of one goal to nil Tuesday afternoon in a pre-season scrimmage.  Forward Mamadou Diouf scored the lone goal, heading home the winner in the 90th minute. Diouf’s goal came after some good build-up play down the left side. Midfielder Andre Lewis whipped a cross into the near-post and Diouf angled his header into the far corner of the goal. Next up for the Battery is a game versus the College of Charleston on Thursday afternoon at Patriots Point; kick off is set for 2:30 PM. Charleston Battery to offer series of summer youth soccer programs

Charleston, SC Mar. 10, 2014  The Charleston Battery will offer a series of youth soccer programs this summer presented by Lloyds Soccer Sports.  In addition to four weeks of half-day camp at Governors Park, Daniel Island the Battery will host three weeks of full-day camp at the Blackbaud Stadium soccer complex.  The Battery will also be offering a weekly Junior Academy program for elite players and a weekly Tiny Tots program for younger children age 3 – 6.
