Eastern NC Red Cross Prepares for Winter Storm

Tips to Stay Safe during Winter Weather EASTERN, NC, Feb. 11, 2014 – As the southeast once again braces for winter storms, the Eastern NC Region of the American Red Cross is preparing to respond if needed.  Five teams of Red Cross shelter volunteers are on standby in the Cape Fear, Coastal Carolina and Onslow County Chapter areas in the event that shelters need to be opened.   Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) crews are also on standby to drive Red Cross disaster relief vehicles located in Wilmington, New Bern, Goldsboro, Rocky Mount, and Elizabeth City.  These vehicles can be mobilized to transport and distribute food, drinks, and supplies into disaster affected areas when travel becomes safe. JACKSONVILLE, NC January 30, 2013 – Onslow County manager Jeff Hudson addressed Winter Storm Leon and reported, “I have had the opportunity to consult with Emergency Services, the Sheriff’s Department, and each of our Commissioners. Contrary to earlier forecasts, temperatures did not rise far above freezing. Some sleet and snow continues to fall in eastern Onslow County at this hour. Conditions are very dangerous and will remain so until later in the day tomorrow. If approved by the Department of Insurance, new rates would be effective August 1, 2014.

Armstrong Marine Locates In Onslow County

ALUMINUM BOAT MANUFACTURER TO CREATE 200 JOBS IN ONSLOW COUNTY Onslow County, NC – The Onslow County Commissioners and the Jacksonville Onslow Economic Development office announced today that Armstrong Marine, Inc. is establishing a welded aluminum boat manufacturing operation in Onslow County.  The company plans to create 200 jobs and invest more than $8.4 million at their new facility near Swansboro which was previously occupied by Hatteras Yachts.
