RALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled goaltender Justin Peters from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). To make room for Peters on the roster, goaltender Mike Murphy was reassigned to Charlotte. Peters, 25, has posted a 6-6-1 record, a 2.49 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage in 14 games with Charlotte this season. He was named the Reebok/AHL Goaltender of the Month for November after posting a 5-1-1 record with a 1.63 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage in seven appearances. I am still here, alive and well! :) My previous post was dated mid October, and it has been a long time. Basically, there really has not been too much memorable action on my part over the past month and a half to report on. CHAPEL HILL – Adam Hartzell, an attorney and former executive director of InterAct in Raleigh, has been named executive director of the University of North Carolina system’s Center for International Understanding (Center). The appointment, effective January 9, 2012, was announced today by UNC President Tom Ross. Hartzell will succeed Millie Ravenel, who retired this summer after 32 years in the post. As head of the Center, Hartzell will advance a key University goal articulated in the UNC Tomorrow strategic planning process: increase North Carolina’s global readiness. The SwampDogs were out in full force to participate in the annual Fayetteville Rotary Christmas Parade. At 11am the vehicles started rolling, including fire trucks, high school bands, princesses and many more. Many onlookers showed up early to get the best seats dressed in layers to stay warm during the cool morning. Fun-Go, Cookie, the Sweethearts and the Dogs front office and families offered holiday greetings to the large crowd that lined the length of the parade route.
