Morehead City, NC March 26, 2014 – The Morehead City Marlins have signed Chris Good, a left-handed pitcher from Belhaven University, for the 2014 season. Good, a 6’3, 230 pound native of Forney, Texas, transferred to Belhaven from the University of New Mexico following his redshirt freshman season. In his first year as a Blazer, Good was outstanding. He finished the season with a 14-3 record and a stellar 2.18 ERA. He was a workhorse, throwing 103 and 1/3 innings. He started 16 games, and recorded an incredible ten complete games and five shutouts. Following the season, Good was named NAIA Second Team All-American. Morehead City, NC Feb. 20, 2014 – Sam Delaplane and Charlie Land, both pitchers for Eastern Michigan University, have signed with the Morehead City Marlins for the 2014 season. Delaplane, a freshman from San Jose, California, and Land, a junior from Wheat Ridge, Colorado, are in their first season with the Eagles. The Marlins continue their relationship with Eastern Michigan University, after having Sam Ott as a member of the team in 2012 and 2013. Ott is the all-time leader in franchise history for games played, at-bats, and doubles. Pair From Central Michigan Headed to Morehead City Marlins

Morehead City, NC Feb. 11, 2014 – The Morehead City Marlins have signed Adam Aldred and Neal Jacobs to their 2014 roster. Both are returning key contributors for the Central Michigan Chippewa’s. Aldred, a 6’0 190 pound left-handed pitcher, and Jacobs, a 6-2 195 pound outfielder will arrive in Morehead City following their sophomore seasons. Aldred, from The Woodlands, Texas, finished his freshman season with a 2-1 record and a 4.08 ERA. He made 12 appearances, including three starts, and recorded 24 strikeouts over 35 and 1/3 innings pitched. Tips to Stay Safe during Winter Weather EASTERN, NC, Feb. 11, 2014 – As the southeast once again braces for winter storms, the Eastern NC Region of the American Red Cross is preparing to respond if needed.  Five teams of Red Cross shelter volunteers are on standby in the Cape Fear, Coastal Carolina and Onslow County Chapter areas in the event that shelters need to be opened.   Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) crews are also on standby to drive Red Cross disaster relief vehicles located in Wilmington, New Bern, Goldsboro, Rocky Mount, and Elizabeth City.  These vehicles can be mobilized to transport and distribute food, drinks, and supplies into disaster affected areas when travel becomes safe. Morehead City, NC Feb. 10, 2014 – The North Carolina Seafood Festival has published a survey through their website to gather information on festival-goers’ thoughts on what types of things each visitor would like to see at the 2014 festival in hopes of making each festival better than the year before. Morehead City, NC Feb. 3, 2014 – The North Carolina Seafood Festival wins three different awards from the NCAF&E (North Carolina Association of Festival and Events). The three awards were for ‘Best Non-Print Media’ for the television and radio commercial, Best Event Photo, and ‘Supporting member of the Year’ to Bellagurl marketing for their promotional work on the event. The ‘Best Non-Print Media’ award for the television and radio commercial concept was “Picture Yourself at the North Carolina Seafood Festival”, produced by Bellagurl marketing and WCTI, the local news channel. RALEIGH, NC February 2, 2014 – On February 2, 1864, Confederate troops engaged the men of the 9th Vermont Infantry at the Newport Barracks in Carteret County. The 7th Regiment North Carolina Infantry built the barracks south of Newport for quarters in the winter of 1861 and 1862. Shortly thereafter, the cluster of log huts was captured by Union troops, who added a hospital, headquarters, stables, storehouse and earthworks. Newport Barracks effectively became a Federal supply depot, since it was located near both the Atlantic Ocean and railroad tracks. In January 1864, 2,000 Confederate troops under the command of General James G. Martin advanced from Wilmington toward Morehead City to support General George E. Morehead City Marlins Sign Pair From Dartmouth

MOREHEAD CITY, NC January 21, 2014 – The Morehead City Marlins have signed Michael Danielak and Nick Lombardi for the 2014 season. Both players attend Ivy League institution Dartmouth College. Danielak is a sophomore right-handed pitcher from Mt. Prospect, Illinois. Lombardi hails from Saugus, California and is a junior third baseman. Danielak went 1-1 with a 4.42 ERA in 11 relief appearances during Dartmouth’s 2013 season. He struck out 18 batters in 18 and 1/3 innings pitched while walking four batters. Morehead City Marlins Sign Former 12th Round Pick Johnny Caputo

Morehead City, NC January 15, 2014 – The Morehead City Marlins have announced the signing of Stony Brook University sophomore Johnny Caputo. He was drafted in the 12th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Draft by the Oakland Athletics following his senior year of high school at Crescent School in Toronto. Caputo started all 59 games for the Seawolves as a freshman in 2013. He primarily played third base and hit .271 with 10 doubles and 20 RBI. Following the season he was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Team and was second team all-conference in the America East.
