FAYETTEVILLE, NC March 3, 2014 – The Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex is seeking two interns to volunteer with 1897 Poe House tours and other duties at the complex this summer. The selected interns will provide guided tours of the 1897 Poe House for walk in visitors during the week. Tours are offered at 11:00, 1:00, and 3:00 Tuesday through Friday. Peace (4-9), a first year Div. III program, could not keep up with SAU after the first few innings as St. Andrews was able to score multiple runs in 4 of the first 6 innings en route to the win. II Pfeiffer University (NC) on Tuesday as they fell 10-4 to the Falcons. Pfeiffer got on the board early and often as they scored runs in each of the first three innings off Knights starter Jordan Blair (JR/Huntersville, NC) (1-3). In all, Blair gave up 10 hits and just 4 earned runs with 3 strikeouts over 3 innings. NC Wildlife Commission Seeks Public Input for Pee Dee River Game Land Planning

ROCKINGHAM, NC March 25, 2014 — The N.C.Wildlife Resources Commission is holding a public meeting on April 3 in Rockingham to seek input in developing a management plan for the Pee Dee River Game Land in Richmond County. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Hinson Lake Rotary Lodge, located on 152 Hinson Lake Road. Wildlife Commission staff will use input from the meeting to help guide management and user activities on the state-owned portions of the Pee Dee River Game Land for the next 10 years. This game land is located between Rockingham and Lilesville. However, SAU came back strong to crush the Cobras 13-2 in game two. St. Andrews, led by starter Joe McCarty (SR/Martinez, GA) took a 3-1 lead heading into the bottom of the 6th. However, this is when VI began their comeback scoring two runs in the inning to tie it at 3. One of those runs was charged to McCarty while the other was to reliever Evan Tucker (SO/Wake Forest, NC). By Troy Baranik Charleston, SC March 20, 2014 – The St. Andrews University men’s  lacrosse team won their first division game on Wednesday evening topping The Citadel 10-8. The win moves SAU into second place in the division at 1-1 and 3-5 overall. The top two finishers in the 5 team division will qualify for the 8 team conference tournament in April. The Citadel falls to 3-5 overall and 0-1. St. Andrews only managed to score one goal apiece in the first and fourth quarters. However, their offense exploded during the middle two quarters scoring 4 goals in each as they hung on for the 10-8 victory. This is the third win over a Div. II school this season for the Knights as they have previously beaten Pfeiffer and Benedict. The loss was only the fifth of the season for Erskine which is now 18-5 as they lost to 3rd ranked Lander University on Wednesday. Senior attacker Jackie Jones (SR/Springfield, VA) was the standout for the Knights as they unfortunately had to play a man down for the majority of the second half due to numerous injuries to their players. By Troy Baranik Atlanta, GA March 18, 2014 – The 27th ranked St. Andrews University women’s golf team finished second on Tuesday at the SCAD-Atlanta Spring Invitational in the 8 team tournament. After the first round was suspended due to heavy rains and unplayable course conditions on Monday, SAU saw themselves in second place after shooting a 332 trailing only Tennessee Wesleyan’s 328. They then came back on Tuesday morning to finish round one with some girls having to play 24 holes in one day. USGA Announces 2014 U.S. Women’s Open Sectional Qualifying Sites

24 Sectional Qualifiers to be Conducted Between May 5 and May 30 FAR HILLS, NJ March 17, 2014 – The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced sectional qualifying sites for the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open Championship, to be contested June 19-22 at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club’s Course No. 2 in the Village of Pinehurst, N.C. Sectional qualifying, conducted over 36 holes, will be held at 20 sites across the United States and four international sites between May 5 and May 30.
