RALEIGH, NC Oct. 3, 2015 – Ron Francis, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has trimmed its training camp roster by five players. The Hurricanes now have 22 players in training camp with season-opening rosters of 23 or fewer players due to the NHL by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Defensemen Brett Pesce and Jaccob Slavin, and forwards Brock McGinn and Derek Ryan will join the Charlotte Checkers’ training camp, which began Tuesday in Indian Trail, NC. Defenseman Haydn Fleury has been returned to his junior club, the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League. An updated training camp roster is attached to this release.

The Carolina Hurricanes begin the 2015-16 regular season at Nashville on Oct. 8, and will play their home opener against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, Oct. 10, at PNC Arena.
