24th Annual Sneads Ferry King Mackerel Tournament begins Tomorrow


SNEADS FERRY, NC Aug. 13, 2015 – The Rotary Club of Sneads Ferry’s 24th annual King Mackerel Tournament will be held August 14-15 with all activities at New River Marina, 104 James Road, Sneads Ferry. Last year’s winner, from among over 100 entries, was Precision Marine with a 45.8 lb. king mackerel netting a prize of over $20,000 covering a number of tournament categories. The Captain’s Dinner, which is open to the public, runs from 5:30PM until 8PM on August 14th and features locally wild-caught and homemade shrimp and clam chowder with all the fixings. The fishing day begins at 7AM on August 15th with scales opening at 3PM and last check-in at 5PM. The awards ceremony, also open to the public, is at 6:30PM on August 15th.

Sneads Ferry KMT - 24th

All proceeds from the tournament support the Rotary Club of Sneads Ferry service projects. Last year the club provided nine scholarship to deserving high school students, provided a free dinner to over 350 senior citizens, provided Christmas groceries to needy families and provided a beautiful flag pole with a continuously lit U.S. flag at the new Sneads Ferry Boat Launch, among many other projects.
