WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC Oct. 30, 2014 – Prime oyster season has arrived and the Wrightsville Beach Chamber of Commerce is hosting their Second Annual Oyster Roast on Sunday, Nov. 2, 4-7 p.m. This all you can shuck and eat festival will be surfside, at Oceanic Pier.
On the menu will be an estimated 40 bushels of fresh local oysters, shrimp plates, sides, sauces, hushpuppies, deserts, drinks, and optional bar. Thanks to the generosity of local sponsors, tickets are only $30 per person and are available at Robert’s Grocery, South End Surf Shop, or online at: www.Wrightsville.org. Sales are limited to 350.
Event proceeds will help preserve historic Howell Cottage, home to the Wrightsville Beach Visitor’s Center and Chamber of Commerce. “Every dime raised at the 2013 Oyster Roast was spent to replace the back wall of Howell Cottage,” says Sue Bulluck, chamber president. “This coming year, we have roof repairs.”
Howell Cottage is located in Historic Square, off Salisbury Street near Town Hall, Wrightsville Beach. Historic Square is also home to Myers Cottage, built in 1907, and Palmgren-O’Quinn house, built in 1946.
Wrightsville Beach Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization, “serving the interests of citizens, tourists and the business community for over 30 years,” says Bulluck.

Oct. 31 – Nov. 2.
