Trick-or-treating is the main attraction as little characters and critters show off their costumes and load up on goodies at decorated booths sponsored by local businesses. Aquarium exhibits become haunted waters with décor suited to the occasion.

The bolder bunch can venture outside to see the dinosaurs after dark. Realistic models of bygone beasts from millions of years ago move, roar and scan for prey as fish o’ lanterns cast eerie shadows along the Marsh Boardwalk.

Also on the fun agenda — underwater pumpkin carving demonstrations, otters playing with jack o’ lanterns, spooky photo ops and more.

Tickets are sold at the door 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. each night; $11 per person; $9.90 for North Carolina Aquarium Society members; ages 2 and under are admitted free. Advance tickets are not available.

Daily admission tickets, receipts and complimentary passes do not apply for this special event. Regular admission ends at 1 p.m. each day of the event.

The Aquarium is open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily year-round except special hours Oct. 29-30 and Dec. 12, 2014, and closed Thanksgiving and Christmas days. Daily admission is $10.95 for ages 13-61, $9.95 for ages 62 and over and military, and $8.95 for ages 3-12. Children 2 and under and North Carolina Aquarium Society members are admitted free.
