Jake Van Wyk will teach workshop
Tuesday, August 19 – Mono-printmaking – 1 to 4pm – limit of 15
Mono-printing using Caron Dasche crayons on Rag Stock
Ink wiping and layering using process inks
Workshop will stress image planning, buildup and registration using
plexi-glass templates as a printing matrix as well as other transfer techniques
All materials including Arches rag stock paper will be provided – bring your images
Wednesday, August 20 – Hand building techniques in Clay – 1 to 5pm
Hands on experience in working with a special sculpture stoneware clay
to extend hand construction techniques for sculptural works.
All materials will be provided – bring sketches and ideas – limit of 15 students
Wednesday evening, Aug. 20 – Master class for Wheel Throwing – 7 to 9:30
Limited to 5 potters – advanced wheel technique in height accomplishment,
Expanded texture, multi-sectional ware, and marble ware techniques.
Tuesday morning, evening, and Weds. morning Portfolio Reviews
Individual portfolio review and assessment – @$20 per ½ hour – Schedule
slots with The Council for the Arts. Actual art or slides on computer can be
assessed in the following media: Drawing(all kinds), Painting, Printmaking,
Clay media and sculpture, and photography(black and white and color)
Jake Van Wyk has taught all of the above media and is a practicing artist – He has had 30 one person art exhibits, completed several large scale public commission pieces, is widely collected and has juried dozens of art exhibits, craft fairs, and high school and college level art.
