Delivering their own brand of rhythm and blues, this four piece band remains a regional favorite after almost 30 years. Tasteful, yet powerful, the band still approaches every gig with the same gusto they did in the early years. The band’s name is credited to Stuart “Polar Bear” Shaw, guitarist, who has kept the band together through the years. Three of the four original members are still on board, and you will recognize the groove that only years of being together can bring.

Along with David Morse, Justin Fox has formed a trio from part of the acclaimed Medusa Stone Band which has been seen far and wide from Wilmington to thje Florida Keys. The Justrin Fox Trio will perform at the fourth of six Free Concerts at Ft,. Fisher this suumer. If you like High Energy Classic Blues and Southern Rock, this will be the show for you.

It would seem that The Mark Roberts Band has been around forever, however, that is not so. Just in the last three years has MRB been around, and in that short time frame, they have already made a tremendous impact in the Music Industry, especially in and around The Southeast. Their unique sound is drawing rave reviews from the Radio Jocks, along with maintaining a continous place on the Cash Box Top 40 Charts, with songs like, “Lover Lover”, “New Orleans Ladies”, and “Love Me as Hard as You Hurt Me”. They are a band that is soon to go National.

South of K is an acoustic band that many of you will recognize as a neighbor, family member, or even a long time friend! Each member resides or has close ties to Kure Beach, NC. Dennis Cooper, Aaron and Jamie King, and Joey Canady each have a long history of performing in varying music genres, but their love for their brand of bluegrass and their strong friendship has brought them together to form… South of K. What you will experience with this band is more than merely music; it’s “friendship manifested in music!”

Band members:
Dennis Cooper – Dennis grew up in the mountains of NC where music was a big part of his life, and made his way to Kure Beach where he works and resides. Dennis is a talented musician who plays bass normally but also seasons the band’s music with the Dobro. Dennis lends a hand in the band’s arrangements and handles bookings as well.

Aaron King – Aaron is a native of Wilmington, NC and the older brother of Jamie. Music has also been a huge part of Aaron’s life. Aaron and Jamie’s parents were heavily involved in church music, leading in churches for many years, which helped create a masterful ear for music. Aaron
