Junior Ranked Fifth On ECU Pitching Staff With A 2.42 ERA


GREENVILLE, NC June 7, 2014 – East Carolina redshirt junior Tyler Bolton was selected in the 33rd round by the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday afternoon during the third day of the 2014 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Bolton was taken with the 990th overall pick and is the fourth Pirate selected in this year’s draft behind Jeff Hoffman (No. 9 overall/Toronto Blue Jays), Ryan Williams (10th RD/Chicago Cubs) and Zach Houchins (13th RD/Los Angeles Angles).

Appeared in 14 games making 13 starts … Sported fifth-lowest ERA on the staff (2.42) … Allowed 29 runs (19 earned) on 64 hits posting a 2-7 record … Struck out 35 while allowing 27 walks in 70.2 innings … Tied for eighth in Conference USA with 19 earned runs allowed … Picked up first collegiate win against N.C.
