WILMINGTON, NC November 8, 2013 – The Airlie Gardens Foundation is the proud recipient of the “Nonprofit Fundraising Board of the Year Award,” presented by the Cape Fear Chapter of the Association of Funding Professionals.
The award ceremony, held at the Warwick Center on Thursday, November 7, was part of National Philanthropy Day, which celebrates the entire spectrum of services provided by the nonprofit community and recognizes the profound impact that philanthropy has on the fabric of society.
The Airlie Foundation received the award for their commitment to preserving the historic Airlie Gardens, growing the foundation’s endowment to $2 million, reaching record-breaking attendance at three signature events, embracing new leadership, and working tirelessly to forward the mission of the gardens.
“Their dedication through strategic planning and financial leadership will serve the gardens well and protect the County’s asset for many years to come,” said New Hanover County Parks & Gardens Director, Tara Duckworth. “We are incredibly proud to have such a dedicated group of volunteers who support our mission,” Duckworth added.
