Gerald Henderson scored nine of his 18 total points in the fourth quarter as the Cats rallied from a 19-point deficit and came away with an 85-83 win on Oct. 25 in New York. Josh McRoberts scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Cats to their fifth win of the preseason.
After finding themselves down at the half, 55-42, the Bobcats commanded an 18-9 run to begin the second half. From there, the Cats continued their comeback, outscoring the Knicks 25-16 in the fourth led by Henderson’s nine points. Walker chipped in eight points in the fourth on the way to the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
For the second time this preseason, the fourth quarter told the story for the Cats as they delivered strong play on the defensive end and dominated the paint. With big men Al Jefferson (ankle) and Brendan Haywood (foot) still out with injuries, Charlotte outscored the Knicks, 38-20, in the paint and hauled in 57 rebounds, paced by Bismack Biyombo with 20… After shooting 50 percent in the first half, the Bobcats defense was able to hold the Knicks offense to 37 percent shooting in the game… Charlotte also had four players in double-figure scoring – Josh McRoberts (19), Gerald Henderson (18), Kemba Walker (18) and Ramon Sessions (10).
BOBCATS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Josh McRoberts led the Bobcats in scoring with a game-high 19 points, shooting 42 percent (3-for-7) from beyond the arc and 8-for-13 (61 percent) overall. He added nine rebounds and five assists in 36 minutes of play.
KNICKS PLAYER OF THE GAME
Iman Shumpert led the Knicks with 16 points on 50 percent shooting (5-of-10) in 31 minutes of play. He also added five rebounds and two assists.
While Al Jefferson continues to work his way back into the lineup, Bismack Biyombo continues to give his team strong minutes, hauling in 20 rebounds in the win. He finished as the Bobcats leading rebounder in the preseason with an average of 9.7… Josh McRoberts continues to give his team significant minutes finishing the preseason averaging 10.5 points per game.
