MIDDLE SCHOOL LACROSSE FOR GIRLS AT SURF CITY
SURF CITY, September 20, 2013 – A joint effort between Loggerhead Lacrosse and Surf City Parks & Recreation will be bringing yet another exciting program to the SCP&R fields this fall. The instructional program, Middle School Lacrosse, for middle school girls will begin Wednesday, September 25th and run Wednesday and Friday evenings from 5:30 – 7 pm (4:30 – 6 pm after DST ends).
The cost is only $60 for the six week instructional program which is being led by Marian Karpells of Loggerhead Lacrosse. Marian helped to start the girl’s lacrosse program for Topsail Lacrosse in 2012, forming the first middle school team here last year. She became familiar with the game in Western Massachusetts and is excited about its growth in the Surf City area.
“My goal is to keep the program accessible and instructional for young ladies to learn the game and continue playing in high school with school sanctioned teams and to help foster a love and growth of a new sport,” says Karpells.
This Surf City program is open to female players of all experience and ability levels who attend middle school (grades 6-8) and equipment will be provided. The program is for girls only because the rules and equipment for girls’ lacrosse are different than boys’. After the fall program is complete, participants will also be given the opportunity to play in a tournament, if they are interested, through Loggerhead Lacrosse.
Registration is through www.townofsurfcity.com. For more information, please call Marian Karpells directly at 910-540-1690
