Mo’ Sol band to headline event
Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation will host its Last Chance for White Pants Gala from 7 p.m. until midnight Friday, Aug. 30, at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside, 301 N. Water St., Wilmington, North Carolina.
Headlining the evening is Mo’ Sol, a Motown, funk, soul and hip-hop band from Atlanta. With a lead vocalist some have compared to Aretha Franklin, the band features a high-energy rhythm section. They play a range of tunes from Ray Charles and The Supremes to modern favorites from artists like Mary J. Blige, Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys.
“Mo’ Sol is sure to get everyone up and dancing,” said Tracey Kellogg, LCFH&LCC development manager who is helping organize the event. “Last year we had about 500 people come out for an incredibly fun night. We’re hoping to exceed that number this year, especially because ticket sales and auction proceeds benefit such a great cause.”
To sample some of Mo’ Sol’s tunes, check out its website at www.mosolband.com.
In addition to dancing the night away in a great downtown venue, attendees will be treated to heavy hors d’oeuvres and beer and wine.
The evening’s theme is “What’s on your bucket list?” and items in the silent and live auctions will be themed around bucket-list dreams. One of the night’s biggest items is a chance to win a BMW to drive for a weekend, courtesy of Schaeffer BMW.
Gala tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased online at www.hospicewhitepants.org or by calling 910-796-8099 ext. 6. Everyone is encouraged to RSVP and purchase tickets no later than Friday, Aug. 23.
There are a number of sponsorship opportunities remaining, including the $500 level, which can include a guest room for two at the Hilton.
Presented by Linda and David Brown, the gala is supported by several local businesses and individuals including: Atlantic Packaging, Hilton Wilmington Riverside, TD Bank, Carolina Marine Terminal, Coastal Beverage, Johnson Drug & Home Medical, MarineMax, Monteith Construction Corp., Perry’s Emporium, PPD, Schaeffer BMW, Toby Skemp Memorial Golf Tournament, Wilmington Health Associates, New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Palm Room, First Citizens Bank, Andrews Mortuary, Carolina Sports Medicine, Land Rover Cape Fear, Laney Real Estate Co., Robin and Will Stanfield, Wilmington Magazine, Wilmington Aesthetic Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Center, Livin’ Out Loud, Just Perfect!
