Fireworks Extravaganza Added to Round Six of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series with Faster Pastor School Bus Slobberknocker
Charlotte, NC July 6, 2013 – Area pastors will compete to see who is the fastest man of the cloth during Round Six of the 20th annual Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series on Tuesday night. Local preachers will take to the track in 13-ton racing school buses for an exciting showdown on the frontstretch quarter-mile. The evening’s racing action will be followed by a spectacular fireworks extravaganza, rescheduled from July 2.
Billy Mauldin, of Motor Racing Outreach (MRO), will be behind the wheel of one of the behemoth racing machines.
“We appreciate the opportunity to be a part of these events,” said Mauldin. “They’re great, they’re exciting, and they’re fun for the fans. But the fun stops when the green flag drops, we get serious then. It’s showtime. The race is on and we’re here to win.
“This is going to be one exciting race, I can promise you that. Just know that MRO is coming to win.”
Other participants in the school bus slobberknocker include Jared Blankenship, with Laurel Baptist Church in Charlotte; Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Kyle Edmiston; Jack Homesly, of the Christ Community Church in Huntersville, N.C.; Alex Kennedy, of Carmel Baptist Church in Matthews, N.C.; Michael Landrum, of The Line Church in Harrisburg, N.C.; and Don Newman, of Memorial United Methodist Church in Charlotte.
In addition to the fireworks on the track, the evening will feature the rescheduled Fourth of July fireworks display. The spectacular and dynamic display will immediately follow the evening’s racing action. Bandolero divisions will also run feature races postponed from July 2, in addition to regularly scheduled racing.
Each night of the Jack in the Box Summer Shootout Series features a full slate of the nation’s best Legend Car and Bandolero racing on the frontstretch quarter-mile, as well as appearances by the World’s Fastest Mascot, Lug Nut, and tons of family fun.
Families are also welcome to come get a cool down from Charlotte Motor Speedway’s fire truck, Engine 343, as it sprays water into the grandstands.
The Charlotte Motor Speedway Play Zone will be open and will feature bounce houses, face painting and interactive games at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Fan Van.
