New Hanover County Parks & Gardens Spring Kayak Demonstration and Bird Hike

Wilmington, NC April 5, 2013 – Join New Hanover County Parks & Gardens for a day of fun and discovery on Saturday, April 13 from 8am-2pm at Smith Creek Park (633 Shenandoah Street, Wilmington). This free event is held in partnership with Hook, Line & Paddle, Wild Bird & Garden and Cape Fear Audubon Society.

New Hanover County North CarolinaFrom 8-9:30am, Environmental Educators will lead participants on a walking trip around Smith Creek Park to discover the many bird species that inhabit the freshwater lake and surrounding area. Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes and bring binoculars if you have them.

The kayak demonstration will take place from 10:30am-2pm and will give participants the opportunity to try out a variety of non-motorized water craft including kayaks, canoes and stand up paddleboards under the supervision of certified instructors. All ages and skill levels are welcome, however, children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.
