Zokan, Olsson Earn Piggly Wiggly Student-Athlete of the Week Honors

CHARLESTON, SC March 27, 2013 – Senior baseball player Jake Zokan (Columbia, S.C.) and freshman golfer Louise Olsson (Uddeholm, Sweden) earned College of Charleston Student-Athlete of the Week honors sponsored by Piggly Wiggly for the week of March 25.

Zokan picked up his first win of the season on Saturday with a quality shutout start against Appalachian State. With his start and a relief appearance against The Citadel, Zokan went 7.1 innings, allowing just four hits and two unearned runs while striking out nine and walking just two. Zokan currently ranks second in the SoCon in strikeouts looking with 17.

 

Olsson fired a career-best round of 69 to finish tied for seventh on the individual leaderboard on the final day of the inaugural Briar’s Creek Invitational held on Tuesday at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek. Olsson previously shot a career-best round of 72 in the second round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate in the fall. Her 69 tied as the second-lowest round of the 18-team tournament which included six top-50 ranked teams in the country. Olsson eagled Hole No. 18 after narrowly missing an eagle putt in the second round.
