To The Pirate Nation:

A victory Saturday would give the ECU men’s basketball team its first 20-win season since 1954 and send your Pirates into the Final Eight of the CollegeInsiders.com Postseason Tournament (CIT).

Filling Minges Coliseum Saturday is another important step in continuing to build a championship basketball program all of you can be proud of. With a victory on Saturday, we can set the school record for most victories in a three-year span at ECU with 53 wins.

Our team and coaches not only appreciate, but also value the Pirate Nation’s enthusiastic support. The fans have a huge impact on the game, especially the students sitting courtside. Our players feed off the energy created by the Minges Maniacs seated around the floor and those seated upstairs.

Our fans have been vital to the success we’ve had at home the last three years. So many of the comebacks we’ve made have been because of the noise and the atmosphere created by the fans. You help make Minges one of the toughest places to play in the country and I don’t say just because I’m the coach here. Numerous coaches from Josh Pastner to Tom Crean have remarked how difficult it is to play here in front of a capacity crowd and that’s a tribute to all the Minges Maniacs.

Kentucky coach John Calipari even commented on how great the environment at Minges Coliseum is, saying “this is what college basketball should be.”

Saturday can be a historic night! Rider is going to be another tough opponent and it will take a complete 40-minute effort by our team and our fans to win!

Be in your seats by 4:45 p.m. to help get our team fired up and create an amazing atmosphere. Wear your purple and gold, be loud, be proud and display good sportsmanship to everyone around you and the opposing team.

Come, create and experience Minges Madness!!!

We Are The Pirates of ECU!
