STATESBORO, Ga. March 18, 2013 – The College of Charleston men’s tennis team extended its Southern Conference winning streak to four matches with a win over Georgia Southern this afternoon at the Hanner Tennis Complex.

CofC (6-6, 4-2 SoCon) has been red-hot as this is the team’s fourth 4-3 Southern Conference win in the last eight days.

The Cougars got off to a great start in doubles when all three CofC tandems emerged victorious to clinch the point for the College.

Zack Lewis (Richmond, Ky.) continued a stellar freshman campaign when he improved his singles season record to 10-2 with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Kyle Hoffman of the Eagles on Court 6.

Georgia Southern (6-5, 2-2 SoCon) tied up the match when Rayane Djouad and Matthijs Verdam of the Eagles snagged singles wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 lines.

However, freshman Charlie Ghriskey (Mount Kisco, N.Y.) answered when he overcame Oliver Webb of GSU in a come-from-behind 6-7 (6-8), 6-1, 6-3 victory on Court 4.

Senior Brice Allanic (Colombes, France) then sealed the deal for the College when he topped Andrew Dromsky of the Eagles 6-0, 5-7, 6-3 on Court 1 to clinch the match.

“Today was a great win for the team,” CofC Head Coach Jay Bruner said. “We played with composure against a very tough team. We had an awesome start in doubles and all of our guys dug in and showed a lot of heart in singles. Brice (Allanic) and Charlie (Ghriskey) did a great job of bearing down at the end to seal this match for us.”

Next up for the Cougars is a four-match homestand starting with UMBC on Thursday, March 21 at 3 p.m. (ET) at the College of Charleston Tennis Center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
