Untamed Outer Banks Will Open at Aquarium
Roanoke Island, NC March 15, 2013 - “Coastal Wild” is the title of Mark Buckler’s new nature photography exhibit in the Nautilus Gallery at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island. This selection of his recent work will be on view April 5 through June 28.
Buckler’s passion for photography ignited when he began making compelling images of the natural world at age thirteen. He continued to hone his photographic skills for more than 20 years on his native Cape Cod and as a student at the University of Vermont. Since moving to the Outer Banks in 2005, he has conducted workshops from coast to coast, led photographic tours, and co-authored the book of dazzling images, “Coastal Wild: Among the Untamed Outer Banks” (Sea Glass Publications, 2010).
Buckler’s degree in wildlife biology and extensive experience as a field biologist give him a deep understanding of nature and animal behavior. This understanding enhances his ability to capture unique and interesting nature images. The Outer Banks provided spectacular new scenery and abundant wildlife with which to carry on his relentless pursuit of arresting imagery. Our State magazine praised the results of his pursuit as “eye-pleasing pictures, elevated to works of art” and “a call to wise stewardship.”
