Gamecocks Begin Outdoor Season at Hurricane Invite
Events scheduled for Friday and Saturday
Columbia, SC March 14, 2013 – The South Carolina track and field team will open their outdoor season at the Hurricane Invitational hosted by the University of Miami this weekend. Competition is slated for Friday and Saturday.
Field events will begin with the javelin on Friday at 2 p.m. Friday’s field events will also feature the hammer throw, high jump and pole vault. The 3,000-meter steeplechase and 5,000-meter run are the only running events on the first day of competition. They are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, field events start at 1 p.m. and include the shot put, discus, long jump and triple jump. A full slate of running events will begin at 1:00 p.m. as well.
The Gamecocks will return home to host the annual Weems Baskin Invitational next weekend.
