Airline Miles Help Grant Children’s Wishes through the Wishes in Flight Program

Greenville, SC March 13, 2013 – Jordan’s Make-A-Wish ® adventure started long before he glimpsed his first wild kangaroo. His wish began when he arrived at the runway for the first time to board his flight. Many wishes like Jordan’s come true with help from frequent fliers. Their donations of air miles are essential to getting wish kids to their destinations. More than 70 percent of the wishes we grant require air travel. Make-A-Wish® needs 2.5 billion air miles to provide travel for wish families for one year. That’s nearly 50,000 round-trip tickets. Donating air miles through the Foundation’s Wishes in Flight® program is easy – and the miles never expire once they are in the Foundation’s account.

“The Make-A-Wish Foundation arranges travel for wish kids to meet celebrities, visit their favorite theme parks, or reconnect with close friends who have moved away,” said Megan Harding, Communications and Development Coordinator with Make-A-Wish® South Carolina, “Donating unused airline miles is an easy way for supporters to help us grant children’s wishes, giving them an experience that improves the quality of life for them and their families.”
