RALEIGH, NC March 11, 2013 – NC State senior Richard Howell was named first team All-ACC as determined by a vote of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Joining Howell in receiving all-conference accolades were junior Lorenzo Brown and C.J. Leslie, who were named to the league’s second and third teams, respectively. Freshman T.J. Warren was selected to the All-ACC Freshman Team.

Howell led the ACC in rebounding this season with 10.6 boards per game. He averaged 11.4 rebounds in league play and was the only ACC player to average double digits. He was one of two league players to average a double-double, as he also scored 12.7 points per game. He is one of four BCS players to average a double-double in conference play this season and his 16 double-doubles this season are the most since Tommy Burleson had 19 in 1972-73.

Brown finished the regular season as the ACC assist leader with 204 (7.0 apg) and also led the league with 59 steals (2.0). His per game assist average is the highest since Chris Corchiani averaged 9.6 in 1990-91. Brown became the third player in school history with 500-plus career assists (554). This year, he logged six point-assist double-doubles.

Leslie is the Pack’s leading scorer with 14.9 points per game. He is one of three conference players to rank in the top 10 in points (14.9), rebounds (7.5) and field goal percentage (.531).  He helped guide State to an upset of then No. 1 Duke with an ACC career best 25 points on Jan. 12.

Warren owns the ACC’s top shooting percentage at .613, a mark which ranks 16th nationally. He is one of two freshmen that rank among the league’s top scorers with an average of 12.2 points per game. Warren, who has twice been named the ACC’s Rookie of the Week for his play, has started the final six games of the regular season and averaged 15.2 points and 8.0 rebounds.

This is Howell’s first all-conference honor and this is the second time Brown and Leslie have collected all-conference honors. Brown was a third-team pick a year ago, while Leslie garnered second-team honors.

NC State opens play at the 60th ACC Tournament Thursday at 2 p.m. when it faces Virginia Tech at the Greensboro Coliseum.
