Lucroy won his second-straight start, improving to 2-1 on the season after helping ECU to a series win over Monmouth. The rookie right-hander struck out a career-high 12 batters in a complete game, two-hit shutout against the Hawks on March 10. Lucroy retired 27 of 31 batters faced, including 16 in a row from the third to eighth innings. He retired 20 of the final 21 batters he faced, giving up a two-out single in the eighth to a pinch hitter, who laced a two-hopper just out of arms length from Chase McDonald at first base.

To go along with his 12 punch-outs, Lucroy recorded two fly ball and 13 groundouts on 106 pitches. He posted the first complete game shutout by a Pirate since Seth Maness’ 4-0 gem against Southern Miss back at the 2011 Conference USA Championship.

On the season, Lucroy boasts a 1.33 ERA in three starts (four appearances) where he has allowed three runs on seven hits with 24 strikeouts in 20.1 innings.

Lucroy and the Pirates (9-5) will be back in action on Tuesday, Mar. 12 when they play host to Old Dominion at 5 p.m. (ET). ECU will then hit the road for a midweek matchup against Campbell (Mar. 13) before heading down south to Florida for a three-game series against Jacksonville (Mar. 15-17).
