Women’s Tennis Set to Host Parents Weekend Doubleheader
CHARLESTON, SC March 8, 2013 – The College of Charleston women’s tennis team will host a doubleheader this Saturday, March 9 versus Jacksonville State and Penn State.
The Cougars’ (5-4) first match of the day will be against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks (4-7) at 9:30 a.m. (ET) at the College of Charleston Tennis Center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
CofC recently went down to JSU’s home state to take on Stetson and North Florida during its spring break road trip. The College went 1-1, topping Stetson in a close 4-3 match before falling to North Florida 2-5.
The Gamecocks will be coming into the match hungry for a win after dropping their last three contests.
After the Jacksonville State match the Cougars will enjoy lunch before jumping back into action versus Penn State at 2 p.m. (ET). The Nittany Lions (9-1) are off to a hot start, their only loss being to No. 42-ranked Ohio State on March 3.
“We’ve had a great couple of days of practice after returning from spring break,” CofC Director of Tennis Angelo Anastopoulo said. “I’m prepared to coach against my good friend Steve Bailey of Jacksonvile State in the morning and then the team will be ready for a very talented No. 34 Penn State in the afternoon. We’re expecting nine out of the ten sets of parents to be returning for parents weekend so we’d like to welcome them back. We should have a great crowd tomorrow.”
CofC will not have much time to rest after the weekend before East Tennessee State comes to town to take on the Cougars on Monday, March 11 at 1:30 p.m. (ET) at the College of Charleston Tennis Center.
