NC State’s Choi Named Co-ACC Men’s Golfer of the Month
GREENSBORO, NC March 8, 2013 – NC State’s Albin Choi and Florida State’s Daniel Berger have been named the Co-Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golfers of the Month for February.
A junior from Toronto, Canada, Choi claimed the individual title at the Puerto Rico Classic at the Westin Rio Mar Golf Resort in Rio Grande, P.R. Choi shot a 70-69-65, totaling a 12-under par 204 to earn his third win of the season.
He has since gone on to win another event this past week, the USF Invitational, finishing with a 54-hole score of 8-under 208. Choi has won three-consecutive tournaments, and four times in seven events this school year. His eight career wins at NC State is second only to Matt Hill’s school-record 10 victories.
Choi, who won in Florida by three strokes over a group of three golfers, including Berger, leads the ACC with a 70.05 scoring average. Berger is second at 70.15.
NC State will compete at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on March 11-12 in Aiken, S.C.
The ACC Men’s Golfer of the Month for February included tournaments played January 1 through February 26, 2013.
