Tulane Overcomes Cougars in Final Road Trip Match

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Tulane Green Wave knocked off the College of Charleston men’s tennis team 6-1 this afternoon at the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center.

 

The loss drops CofC to 2-6 while the Green Wave improves to 5-4. This was the third match of the College’s three-match spring break road trip.

It was a tough day for the Cougars as only sophomore Sebastian Lopez (Medellin, Colombia) emerged victorious. Lopez beat Joe Young of Tulane 6-3, 6-2 in No. 2 singles. Lopez has been a steady presence for CofC recently, winning four of his last six singles matches.

 

Sophomore Alon Faiman (Ramat Hasharon, Israel) had a very close match against Alex Van Cott of the Green Wave. After splitting two sets, the two played a tiebreaker all the way to 16-14 before Van Cott took the win on court five.

 

The Cougars have their work cut out for them as their next opponent is Southern Conference foe Davidson (7-3). The two teams will square off on Sunday, March 10 at 1:00 p.m. (ET) at the College of Charleston Tennis at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
