Carolina Panthers Release Defensive Tackle Ron Edwards
Charlotte, NC March 1, 2013 - The Carolina Panthers have released defensive tackle Ron Edwards, the team announced Friday.
Edwards started 11 games for the Panthers in 2012, recording 16 tackles and one sack before an elbow injury ended his season.
“We appreciate the contributions that Ron has made to the Panthers the past two seasons,” head coach Ron Rivera said. “He set a great example on and off the field for our young players and we wish him well moving forward.”
Edwards joined the Panthers in 2011, but missed the entire season after suffering a triceps injury in training camp. He is a veteran of 12 NFL seasons, playing with the Buffalo Bills (2001-05), Kansas City Chiefs (2006-10) and Panthers (2011-12). He has played in 139 regular season games with 96 starts, tallying 239 tackles and 16.5 sacks.
