Pirates Finish Eighth At Bayou City Collegiate Championships

HUMBLE, Texas Feb. 24, 2013 – The East Carolina men’s golf team finished eighth at the Bayou City Collegiate Championships on Sunday with a 54-hole total of 16-over 880 at the par-72, 6,963-yard Redstone Golf Club.

Texas won the event with a 22-under 842, while Houston finished at 1-under 863, with South Carolina third at 7-over 871. Louisiana Tech (+10, 874) and Chattanooga (+11, 875) rounded out the top five. The Longhorns’ Brandon Stone won individual medalist honors at with a 9-under 207.

Freshman Grayson Murray finished as the Pirates’ top individual with a 1-over-par total of 217. Murray fired a 2-over-par 74 in Sunday’s final round after shooting 1-under in the first two rounds to finish tied for 18th.

Junior Ryan Eibner finished three strokes behind his team at 4-over 220. Eibner carded his lowest of the tournament Sunday with a 2-under 70. Fellow junior Eric Brady carded a third round 8-over 80 to finish with a 6-over 222, tied for 39th. Senior Zach Edmondson closed out the tournament with a 4-over 76 to complete the 54-hole event at 12-over 222. Freshman Jacob Hicks finished at 14-over 230, tied for 67th.

East Carolina returns to action March 11-12 at the Tiger Shootout in Auburn, Ala.
