Hope Klicker Named SoCon Pitcher of the Week
Lefty sophomore plays a key role in CofC’s 4-0 week
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – College of Charleston sophomore pitcher Hope Klicker was named the Southern Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Klicker (Walla Walla, Wash.) went 2-0 in the circle in two appearances last week, throwing complete games in both outings. The lefty recorded a 0.50 ERA after allowing just one run in 14 innings. Klicker allowed only seven hits and did not walk a single batter, while striking out 22. She did not allow an extra-base hit and held her opponents to a .143 batting average.
Klicker’s outings were instrumental in CofC’s 4-0 week with wins over Wagner and South Carolina State. The Cougars have won six straight to move to 6-3 on the season.
Klicker and the rest of the team face a tough task on Thursday, Feb. 28 with No. 4 Tennessee coming to Patriots Point for a single game. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
