BLACKSBURG, Va. Feb. 23, 2013 – Senior Karimah Shepherd earned ACC Championship Field MVP honors, while redshirt senior Ryan Hill and redshirt sophomore Tremanisha Taylor also claimed gold medals on the final day of the 2013 ACC Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Hill earned his third All-ACC honor on the indoor circuit, while Taylor and Shepherd earned their first all-conference indoor-season accolades.

Shepherd, who set the program record to win the women’s long jump Friday night, capped a sweep of the vertical jumps with a personal-best 43’ 0.50” leap in the triple jump to become the first female athlete in program history to win multiple jumping titles at the same indoor championship.

Shepherd’s jump topped her previous best of 42’ 4.25” – a mark she has hit twice this season – and still stands second on the program’s all-time list in the event.

Hill, who broke the school record in the mile at the prestigious Millrose Games last weekend, claimed his third individual and fourth overall ACC indoor title after pacing the field at 4:05.71 in the men’s mile run. The Hickory, N.C., native has now won the last three ACC Indoor Championship 3,000-meter races.

After finishing sixth in the women’s shot put in 2012, Taylor threw an indoor-best 53’ 7.00” to take home this year’s crown. Taylor’s previous best was a 51’ 7.00” heave at the Hilton Garden Invitational on Feb. 1.

The women’s team accumulated 61.5 points over the course of the weekend and finished fourth in the meet. Clemson took home the team title for the fourth-straight year with 141.5 points, ahead of Florida State (100) and Duke (82).

The men’s team finished eighth overall with 35 points, while host Virginia Tech took home the crown with 153 points, ahead of Florida State (136) and Clemson (91) to round out the top three.
