Pirates Slip To Eighth After Round Two At Bayou City Collegiate
Junior Eric Brady is at 2-under, six strokes off the lead
HUMBLE, Texas Feb. 23, 2013 – The East Carolina men’s golf team fell to eighth place after 36 holes with a 7-over-par 295 during second-round play at the Bayou City Collegiate Championships Saturday at the Redstone Golf Club.
The Pirates are 9-over 585 and 28 shots back of tournament leader Texas (-17, 559). Baylor is in second-place at 4-under par 572 with Charlotte in third at 2-under par. Tournament host Houston is in fourth-place at even-par 576.
Junior Eric Brady led the Pirates in Saturday second round with a 3-under-par 69. He is part of a three-way tie for 11th-place at 2-under-par 142. Brady birdied the first two holes and then pared five of the next seven holes to make the turn at par 36. He birdied three holes on the back nine to finish with the Pirates’ lowest score of the tournament. Brady is six strokes behind individual leader Brax McCarthy, who sits at 8-under-par 136.
Freshman Grayson Murray fired a 1-over 73 to fall from ninth into a nine-way tie for 14th at 1-under par 143. He opened the tournament by shooting a 2-under 70 on Friday.
Junior Ryan Eibner dropped from 27th to 54th firing a 5-over 77 after shooting 1-over 73 in round one. He has carded a 6-over 150 through 36 holes. Senior Zach Edmondson fired a 6-over 78 in round two to fall to 8-over for the tournament. Freshman Jacob Hicks took three strokes off his first round score with a 4-over 76 Saturday to move to 11-over 155.
