NC State Men’s Golf in 13th at Puerto Rico Classic

RIO GRANDE, PUERTO RICO Feb. 17, 2013 – The NC State men’s golf team is in 13th place after day one of the Puerto Rico Classic at Rio Mar Country Club.

The Wolfpack shot a team score of 15-over 303.

Junior All-American Albin Choi is tied for 10th after a 2-under 70. He recorded five birdies on the day, but a triple bogey at the par-5 fourth cost him from being inside the top-5.

Junior Logan Harrell opened up the spring season with a 4-over 76 to tie for 53rd, while senior Mitch Sutton is tied for 61st at 6-over 78. Both had two birdies on their respective rounds.

No. 6 Alabama leads by one shot at 9-over 279, followed by Oklahoma at 280 and Clemson at 7-under 281.

Clemson’s Billy Kennerly tops the individual leader board at 5-under 67, followed by a group of three at -4.

Second-round action begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Monday.
