CofC Cougars to Host Winthrop in First Home Match

CHARLESTON, SC – The College of Charleston’s men’s tennis team will kick off its spring home schedule by hosting Winthrop on Friday, Feb. 1 at 2:30 p.m. (ET) at the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

The Cougars (0-1) will look to pick up their first win of the spring season after a tough season-opening loss on the road to No. 43-ranked Virginia Tech, 6-1, on Jan. 19 in Blacksburg, Va.

Meanwhile, the Eagles (2-2) enter the match on a hot streak winning their last two matches versus Wofford and Tennessee Tech by a count of 5-2. Last season, CofC posted an impressive 11-1 record on its home courts.

Both teams last met in a dual match on Feb. 8, 2009 at Patriots Point, where the Eagles came away with a 4-3 decision over the Cougars.
