CofC Cougars Will Look To Bounce Back At East Carolina

GREENVILLE, NC Feb. 1, 2013 – CofC’s swimming & diving teams will head north to face East Carolina on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the penultimate meet of the season at ECU’s Minges Aquatic Center.

The Cougars are coming off a difficult meet at South Carolina where the Cougar men finished in fourth place, and the women picked up a dual meet matchup over Queens, 182-134.

CofC senior Peter Gibbons earned CCSA Diver of the Week honors this week, his fourth award this season. Gibbons will look to end the regular season on a high note as he will prepare to represent CofC in the NCAA Zones meet in March.

Cougar sophomore Sarah Graif and junior Sarah Boyle have carried the women’s team this year with strong performances in the freestyle sprints and the backstroke.

On the men’s side, junior Greg Karel and freshman Alex Wood have been strong in the sprints while junior Dave Sherrier has led in the longer freestyle races. Sophomore Pablo Ortiz has been a force in the 400 IM and the 200 butterfly.
