Carolina Hurricanes Recall Andreas Nodl from Charlotte Checkers

Forward had four points in five games with Checkers

RALEIGH, NC Jan. 30, 2013 – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has recalled forward Andreas Nodl from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Nodl will join the Hurricanes for the team’s practice on Wednesday at PNC Arena.

Nodl, 25, was assigned to Charlotte on Jan. 17, and recorded a goal and three assists (4 points) in five games with Carolina’s top minor-league affiliate. The Vienna, Austria, native split the 2011-12 season between Philadelphia and Carolina, totaling eight points (3g, 5a) and eight penalty minutes in 60 NHL games. He earned seven points (3g, 4a) in 48 games with the Hurricanes after being acquired on waivers from Philadelphia on Nov. 29, 2011. Philadelphia’s second-round selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Nodl (6’1”, 196 lbs.) has totaled 35 points (15g, 20a) in 175 career NHL games with the Flyers and Hurricanes.
