Things To Know About The Game
•East Carolina is off to a 3-2 start in Conference USA following its 91-85 victory at UAB on Wednesday night. UTEP is 4-1 in the league and hasn’t played since last Saturday, Jan. 19.
•East Carolina is 10-1 at home this season, while UTEP is 1-3 on the road. The Pirates have won their last three C-USA home games dating back to last season (Marshall, UCF, Houston). ECU trailed by double digits in all three of those games.
•The Pirates have scored 88 or more points in three of their five C-USA games and been held under 60 in the other two (both on the road). ECU ranks 17th in the nation in scoring (78.2 ppg), while UTEP ranks third in the conference in scoring defense (60.5 ppg).
•UTEP ranks 11th in the league in scoring (63.2 ppg) and ECU is 10th in scoring defense (70.9 ppg).
•East Carolina has a 2-1 record against the Miners inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum compared to an 0-4 mark at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso.
•A different player has led ECU in scoring each of the last three games (Maurice Kemp – 30 vs. Houston; Miguel Paul – 17 vs. Marshall; Ty Armstrong – 18 vs. UAB).
•The Pirates are 6-1 at home against its “West Division” rivals under coach Jeff Lebo.
•The two teams combined for a trio of league leaders. ECU’s Maurice Kemp leads C-USA in scoring (17.7 ppg) and Akeem Richmond tops the league in 3-pointers per game (2.6). UTEP senior Jacques Streeter has the best assist-to-turnover ratio in the conference at 2.6.

•The home team has won six of the seven games played in the series. The lone road victory was recorded by UTEP in 2009 (88-67).
•Five of the seven meetings have been decided by double figures.
•East Carolina earned its only Conference USA victory of the 2006-07 season with a 79-78 win over UTEP on Senior Day as senior Courtney Captain sank a 3-pointer with 10 seconds remaining for the victory. Captain scored 24 of his 29 points in the first half as ECU built an 11-point halftime lead.
•UTEP’s Stefon Jackson scored 41 points against the Pirates in 2008, tying him for third for most individual points scored by an ECU opponent. His 21 made free throws were also an ECU opponent record.

•East Carolina is the highest scoring team in Conference USA, averaging 78.2 points per game. The Pirates rank 17th in nation in scoring (through Thursday’s games).
•The Pirates have scored over 80 points in each of their last four home games. ECU is averaging 83.0 points at home this season, but just 78.9 against seven Division I opponents.
•After yielding 50 percent shooting against UCF and Houston, the Pirates have held each of their last two opponents under the mark.
•The Pirates have handed out 20+ assists in seven of the last nine games. ECU currently ranks fifth in the NCAA statistics with 17.7 assists per game, tops in Conference USA.
•East Carolina has a higher free throw shooting percentage on the road (.711) than at home (.668). •Junior Robert Sampson is nearly averaging a double-double in C-USA play with 9.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.

Leftovers From The UAB Game
•East Carolina improved to 4-12 all-time against UAB with a 91-85 victory Wednesday night. The Pirates won for a second consecutive season at Bartow Arena and for the third time in nine visits.
•The Pirates’ 91 points tied the program record for most points scored in a C-USA game, but most in a regulation game. ECU scored 91 points in an overtime win against Rice in 2009.
•Junior Ty Armstrong recorded his first career double-double with a career-high 18 points to go along with 10 rebounds.
•Senior Miguel Paul tied the ECU record for most assists in a game with 14.
•ECU posted season-highs for field goal percentage (.552) and 3-point field goal percentage (.588), despite tying its season-high for turnovers with 20.
•Sophomore Paris Roberts-Campbell scored a season-high 16 points and tied his career-high for 3-point field goals made with four.

•East Carolina ranks among the top 20 NCAA Division I teams in scoring this season, averaging 78.2 points per game.
•The Pirates are averaging their most points in 35 years. The last time ECU averaged 78 or more points in a season was 1977-78 when they averaged 81.0 points per game.
•ECU has scored over 80 points in 10 games this season and topped 90 points three times. It had scored over 80 points just nine times in the two previous years combined.
•The Pirates have put up 50 points in a half five times and topped 60 twice.
•The Pirates’ 64 first half points against St. Andrews matched a school record for points in a half (64 vs. Atlantic Christian, 1968). Its 61 second half points vs. North Carolina was the most points ever allowed in a half by a Roy Williams’ coached UNC team.
