COLUMBIA, SC Jan. 24, 2013 - The College of Charleston men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams will head to Columbia, S.C. this weekend for a meet against South Carolina, Queens and Wingate. Friday’s session will begin at 4 p.m., while Saturday’s session starts at 10 a.m.

College of Charleston men's and women's swimming & diving teams

The Cougars are coming off a hard-fought meet against CCSA foe Gardner-Webb last weekend at the Stern Center Pool. The men closely defeated the Bulldogs, 176-171, while the women fell by a score of 176.5-167.5.

This meet marks the second time that CofC and South Carolina have squared off this season, with the Gamecocks winning on both the men’s (178-115) and women’s side (169-26) at the Stern Center back in November.

The Cougars finished ahead of Wingate in the 2012 Fall Frenzy in Charlotte, N.C., while the women defeated Queens University and the men came in second behind them.

College of Charleston’s Pablo Ortiz was named the CofC Student-Athlete of the Week after his two first-place finishes and second-place finish in last week’s win over Gardner-Webb.
