Center made NHL debut for Carolina at Florida in 2011-12

Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey LeagueRALEIGH, NC – Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that center Jeremy Welsh has been recalled from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Welsh will practice with the Hurricanes this morning at PNC Arena.

Welsh, 24, is in his first full professional season and has 13 points (6g, 7a) in 39 games for Charlotte. The Bayfield, Ont., native made his NHL debut for the Hurricanes in the team’s final game of the 2011-12 season, skating 16:32 of ice time and totaling four penalty minutes. Prior to turning professional, Welsh completed a three-year collegiate career for Union College of ECAC Hockey with 100 points (53g, 47a) in 119 games.
