Wilson Tobs Release 2013 Schedule!

Wilson, NC Jan. 16, 2013 – The Wilson Tobs announced today the release of their 2013 schedule. Now heading into their 17th season, the Tobs open the gates to the upcoming summer of fun on Tuesday, May 28th hosting divisional rivals, Edenton Steamers, followed by the first “Thirsty Thursday” on May 30th. The first Fireworks game of the year will be held on June the 6th during our second annual School’s Out Celebration, against the Petersburg Generals.Wilson Tobs - Wilson, North Carolina

The Tobs will finish up their regular season August 5th at home against the Fayetteville Swampdogs. The playoffs for the 2013 season run from August 7th through August 17th.

The league’s annual All-Star Fan Fest and All-Star Game will be on July 7th and 8th. The location of the 2013 Coastal Plain League All-Star Game will be announced soon.

Once again, the league will be comprised of two divisions – the East and the West – that will feature seven teams in each. The East will be made up of the Edenton Steamers, Fayetteville SwampDogs, Morehead City Marlins, Peninsula Pilots, Petersburg Generals, Wilmington Sharks and Wilson Tobs. Meanwhile, the West will again feature the Asheboro Copperheads, Forest City Owls, Gastonia Grizzlies, Martinsville Mustangs, Thomasville HiToms, Columbia Blowfish and Florence RedWolves.

 

The schedule is highlighted by the June 15th “Beer and BBQ Festival” against the Florence RedWolves, June 27th “Pink Night” presented by Wilson Medical Center and Wilmed Healthcare Foundation and the July 4th Fireworks celebration presented by Thomas & Farris!

2013 marks the 2nd Annual “Beer and BBQ Festival” presented by Thomas & Farris. The “Beer and BBQ Festival” includes a pregame BBQ cook off, live music and beer sampling.

The Tobs will host two exhibition games on Sunday, June 2nd against Fuquay Varina and our 3rd annual “Picnic in the Park,” July 10th against Kernersville. Both teams are members of the Carolina/Virginia League.

The schedule includes two “Firework Games,” two “Festival Saturdays” and seven of the popular “Thirsty Thursday” games. New weekly promotion nights are also being introduced so every night at Wilson Tobs will feature a unique promotional theme.

In 2013 the Tobs will start all games at 7:05 with the exception of Sunday games will start at 5:05 and “Picnic in the Park” on July 10th, which will begin at noon.

The Wilson Tobs are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, entering their 17th season in the nation’s hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 17th season in 2013, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 1,000 alumni drafted and 55 alums – including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander – make their Major League debut thus far.
