CHARLESTON, SC - Sophomore men’s basketball player Adjehi Baru (Abidjan, Ivory Coast) and sophomore swimmer Sarah Graif (Phoenix, Ariz.) earned College of Charleston Student-Athlete of the Week honors sponsored by Piggly Wiggly for the week of Jan. 14.
Baru earned Southern Conference Player of the Week honors after leading the CofC Cougars to a 2-1 week with wins over Chattanooga and The Citadel. Baru recorded double-doubles in all three games for a team-leading 15.7 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game last week. Baru now has five double-doubles this season and leads the SoCon in rebounding with an average of 9.2 per game.
Graif helped lead the Cougar swimming & diving teams to a dual meet victory over Campbell and Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) this weekend. She won the 50-meter freestyle race with a time of 26.63 seconds, and also won the 100 free in 58.72 seconds. Graif swam the anchor leg of the first-place 200-meter medley relay team that combined for a time of 2:02.35, and also swam anchor to the 400 freestyle relay (4:00.81) which also took first place.
