Carolina Hurricanes Agree to Terms with Goaltender Dan Ellis
Veteran netminder agrees to one-year contract

“Dan is an experienced netminder who has had good years in the NHL, and played well for Charlotte this season,” said Rutherford. “We feel it is important to have a veteran goalie to partner with Cam during the compressed season.”
Ellis, 32, is 8-7-2 with a 2.46 goals-against average and .922 save percentage in 18 games this season with the Hurricanes’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers. The Saskatoon, Sask., native is 72-57-15 with a 2.68 goals-against average and 12 shutouts in 165 career NHL games with Dallas, Nashville, Tampa Bay and Anaheim. Originally selected by Dallas in the second round, 60th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Ellis has appeared in seven career Stanley Cup playoff games, going 2-5 with a 2.87 goals-against average and .928 save percentage.
